Dr. Ozgur Saygin SOLAK

I was born as the second child of teacher parents. I was a kid who didn't go out much until elementary school and liked to play games alone. I remember the day I started kindergarten like it was yesterday because I ran away on the first day and went straight home. When I think about it today, no one questioned this situation much within the possibilities of that day, kindergarten was not very important back then. In primary and secondary school, my mother tried to restrict me from going out. Playing games with my friends was as nice as spending time alone. My father was a physics teacher and he always calmly told me, “You will do your job in the best way possible. I'm afraid I had two choices, no in-between. My preference was Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 1998. I still smile whenever I think of it, these words that were said to motivate me at that time. My university years were very enjoyable, now I understand. Back then, we used to sit with friends and rave all the time. I have made such good friends that they are still an important part of my life today. After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2005, I started to work as an assistant doctor in Ankara Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital Psychiatry Clinic in the same year.

It was a very busy hospital, so much that I started to provide outpatient services in my third month. We were following so many cases that it was not difficult for us to gain experience in a short time. Theoretical was important, but what about practice. I followed up patients with Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Major Depression, and Panic Disorder in outpatient and inpatient services. After participating in patient follow-up studies in Movement Disorders and Headache clinics in the Neurology Department in 2007, I received Brain Anatomy training at Ankara University Anatomy Department. In 2008, I followed up patients on Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, Behavior Disorder, Exam Stress, and Separation Anxiety in the Department of Child Psychiatry at Ankara University. In the same year, I continued to work on psychiatric problems in adolescence and young adulthood between the ages of 14-24 in the Youth Unit of Dışkapı EA Hospital. During my Dışkapı years, new friends were added to the friends I made during my high school and university years. And I met my dear wife, my life partner Burcu.

In 2009, I started to work as a specialist doctor at Trabzon Ataköy Mental Health and Diseases Regional Hospital. The conditions were difficult and sad. After completing the patient follow-up studies of treatment-resistant diseases in the outpatient clinic and inpatient service, I started to work at Anamur State Hospital. I established the inpatient psychiatry service here and continued to work for about two years. Transportation as a region was very difficult in those years. That's why I had the opportunity to follow my patients for a long time since I was the only doctor in that area. My daughter was born, the nuclear family was expanding. While I was doing my obligatory service in Anamur, we had very good days with many of my friends who came for this duty like me. We still talk and remember those days. After working at Ankara Şerefli Koçhisar State Hospital for a short time, I left the state service. In 2012, I continued my studies on substance addiction treatment and rehabilitation intensively at Istanbul Vatan Hospital and Balıklı Rum Foundation Hospital.

I have been continuing my professional life as a specialist and Chief Physician at Istanbul Medalyon Psychiatry Center since February 2013. I seek common solutions with my patients in many areas, especially in adult attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, Panic attack, Social phobia, Bipolar affective disorder, Depressive disorder, Substance addiction, Obsessive Compulsive disorder, Female - Male relationship problems, Adolescence problems, and improve their quality of life. I'm trying to upgrade.
